CU Sea World Shapes

I had almost forgotten that I can share this with you all. This shape has been there in my hard disk for about 2 months. This is the first csh file I made. So far I just made this one. I maybe making some other shapes later in future.
It was not difficult to make this file. I'm sure you can follow the instructions easily.
1.Open the elements that you want to save in csh file. Make sure that they are not copyrighted.
2. Ctrl - click on the layer of the shape to make selection.
3. Choose Edit- Define Custom Shape on the menu. Type the shape's name and click ok. Your new shape will appear at the last one.
4. Repeat for the rest of the shapes.
5. Delete the old shapes that were not created by you.
6. Click the arrow at the right corner of Custom Shape Tool pop up menu, choose Save Shapes and give name for your own shapes.
Voila! You created your own shapes.

I do my very small contribution to the environment by reducing taking plastic bags from the shops and reuse them to cover my dustbins.

Blinkie Tutorial

Today I had mood to make my own blinkie. It was not as difficult as I imagined. In fact it was fun making it.

First follow this tutorial: http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/university/tutorials/ps_blinkie_as.shtml.

Since I use PSCS 3, I followed the tutorial only upto making the layers.

To make the animation you can follow these steps:

1. Click Window- Animation.

2. Make sure that you are on "Animation(Timeline)" menu. If you are on "Animation(Frame)" menu , you can change it by clicking on the "convert to timeline animation" at the bottom right corner.

3. Create the first frame by by clicking on "select first frame" then highlight(CTRL-click) which layers you want to appear first.

4. Click "Convert to frame animation". There you can see your frame. If you satisfy with that, select frame delay time.

5. Duplicate the frame. Convert to timeline animation again. Activate/inactivate the layer(s) you want to appear on the second frame.

6. Go back to step 4.

Repeat the steps until you are done.

7. Play the animation. You can change the frame delay time to make the movement faster or slower.

8. Save in GIF file. I followed the instructions from here http ://digiscrapart.com/blog/2008/06/21/creating-a-blinkie-in-photoshop-cs/.

9. Upload your GIF file to web site for photo storage (eg. photobucket).

Now you can add your own blinkie to your blog.

CU Grungy Flowery Photo Masks II

As I promised before that I would make the other shapes and the tutorial for the photo masks.

Steps to make these masks :

1. Make a new file with 12x12 inches 300 dpi.

2. Choose the shapes you like from the custom shapes. I used black as the foreground color.

3. Load the watercolor brush, wild flowers and leaves brush sets. They are available at this site.

4. Stroke watercolor brush surround the edges to make grungy effects. You can use different shapes for that.

5. Choose different shapes of brushes from the wild flowers and leaves brush sets and stroke on the grungy edges (I created a new layer for each shape so that I can copy and move to other places).

6. Trim the image and save it in PNG file.

As for the previous photo masks, I used marquee tool for the shape and stroke watercolor brush to fill it. I left some space empty on one corner of the rectangular one.

You can make other photo masks with different shapes and different brush sets. Just keep experimenting. Your creativity is the limit. Happy scrapping!

Sweet Childhood collab kit

Again we are back with another collab kit for this month, we name it Sweet Childhood.

We release this kit as a gift to celebrate our festival Eidul Fitri this year.

The title brings me back to the memories when I was a kid. I used to play outdoors and enjoyed it a lot.

I used this overlay for one of My Secret Garden papers. They are Commercial Use friendly. I give you the PNG as well as PSD file.

The technique I used to make my paper on this overlay was:

1. Create a new file 12x12 300 dpi.

2. Paint the layer with the background color of your choice.

3. Drag the PNG file.

4. Drag the texture of your choice and change the blending mode.

5. Create a new layer and paint with gradient tool. Change the blending mode.

You are done with it. You can create more layers with different gradient tool and blending mode to get different color effect.

You can also play around with the PSD file by changing the color on each layer so that it looks like a painting like I did on another paper.

Making A Three Column Blog

After four days of trials and errors changing this blog into three column, I have finally made it.

I tried few tutorials to get this blog fixed.

I used minima template for this blog and layout by me from My Secret Garden kit which will be uploaded soon.

First I prepared the background and the header by following the tutorial HERE and to fix it into your blog you can refer THIS.

After that the most important part is to follow this TUTORIAL carefully to make it a three column.

Believe me. It is worth trying. Thanks to Chuck of nitecruzr, Nicole of Stuff To Scrap and Allie Brown for their tutorials.

Digital Scrapbooking tutorials

I found a site which gives links to the great tutorials on digital scrapbooking.

On one of the tutorials it shows how to make brushes. Eventhough I did not use this tutorial to make my brushes, but it is quite easy to follow.

Click HERE to go to the tutorials.

The things I did to make my watercolor brushes were:

Stroke watercolor with a brush to a piece of paper. Make some strokes on that. Each stroke is unique.
Scan the paper after it dries with high resolution (min 300 dpi).
Open a new file 8x8 inches 300 dpi.
Click on the stroke using magic wand (choose add to selection) .
Click on the edges which was not selected and drag to the new file.
Once you satisfy with the shape, click Edit-Define brush preset. Give name for you new brush. Deselect the brush shape.
Click on the brush tool, then click on Window - Brushes. There you can see your new brush.
Repeat from step 4 for the other shapes of the brushes.
Delete the previous loaded brushes by right clicking on each brush on Window - Brushes menu.
Click the arrow which showing down on the upper right hand corner . Click on Save Brushes and give name for your own brush.

Voila! You've made your own brushes.

I did the same thing with my splat brushes. The different is, instead of stroking the brush I splat the watecolor on the paper.

As for the leave brushes, I photographed or scaned the leaves and extracted the pictures. I saved as PNG files.

I found another good tutorial for extraction HERE.

Steps to make leave brushes:

Open all the leaves PNG files.
Control click on the layer. Click Edit - Define Brush preset. Give name for the new brush. If the the menu is not in bold type, resize the leave to make it smaller and repeat load selection (ctrl click).
Repeat for the other leaves.
Delete the previous loaded brushes and save your new brushes.

Hope this will be useful for you. I apologize for my poor English.

Watercolour Brush

This is the first brush I have ever made.
Someone asked me a tutorial how to make a photo mask. I think I can give a simple one here.
First open a new file. Choose the brush shape, plop on the layer. Repeat with the other shapes. Create a new layer if you want to rotate the brush shape. Save in PNG file.

My Secret Garden

I can't wait to make a new LO using My Secret Garden paper and overlay by me. This colab kit will be lauched on August.

To make this LO I duplicate the paper and put the photos in between the papers. I made the background paper layer invisible so that I can erase the top layer paper until just above my children's feet. Again I made the background visible. I adjusted on hue/saturation and lightness on each photo to match the background.
